Oh, also...

... in addition to vibes, I need recommendations for a Neil Gaiman book. Apparently - or, according to all of my recommendations on Amazon and other sites - I would enjoy his books. Haven't read any of them.

Ooh! This is my speciality! All of his books are kind of different from each other, so I have a recommendation for any taste :)
Actually, I'm bad at categorising, so here they are on a gradient from sweet, romantic fairy tale to dark, tragic horror:
Stardust
Good Omens
Anansi Boys
Neverwhere
Coraline (a children's book)
Sandman (graphic novels)
American Gods

Or you could read his short story collection, Smoke and Mirrors, to get a taste of his work. I haven't read the latest collection yet, but I assume it is also good.
If you have an idea of what you might like to read, I could give you a more specific suggestion, too. Sorry for the long comment; I'm kind of evangelical about Neil Gaiman :)

(Also, I've been trying to figure out if I know you from your old blog, but I can't figure out what your previous identity was. Can I have a hint, please?)

Okay... rather large hint: taz, friend o' luckybuzz. (The former blog title, which I changed awhile ago, was "Thornbush.")

I guess I mostly like sci-fi/fantasy? My favorite modern author is Neal Stephenson, who doesn't really write either but comes closer to sci-fi...

Just from descriptions, Neverwhere peaks my interest, and American Gods sounds interesting. Between those two, maybe?

Thanks for the hint :)

I think go for American Gods; it seems more Neal Stephenson-ish somehow. Although, I really love Neverwhere more, even though it's a somewhat weaker book.
